Studio Calico Story Hour.

sharing my layouts for the March Studio Calico kit, Story Hour.
I think this one is the most 'me'?

Lots of bits/things tucked here and there.
Here is the chevron tag I made with the border stamp in the Illustrated add-on. Already gave this card to the friend at work i made it for...and she said it made her day. :)
My Main kit only layout above...for the Pinterest-inspired challenge.
Heehee...this paper reminded me of the 98542345 bottles of nail polish we have in our house.
Even though she has stubs for nails.
;)
Stuck with her team colors on this soccer layout, and added some yellow to perk it up.
Hope you have a great week!

i love this layout.

for a million different reasons.
i'm in love with the photo of my two yahoos.
I love the number tape that I picked up for a STEAL on Etsy that you see at the top of the page.
The colors are so 'me'.
It is 'clean'/simple/graphic-ish.
I had fun making it.
:)

(That last one is something I'm striving for more often these days.)

So...onto the how-to.
I've been eager to play with the new Studio Calico CHA release...and carved some time out yesterday to do just that. I only have the papers as of now, but they are some of their best yet (definitely the most 'me', i think) and for sure the most versatile. I am in LOVE with the Classic Calico Volume 2 line...especially the greys. The scale on the papers is great, and I really just can't say enough.

So I grabbed the Encircled paper to start. It is white with light grey circles all over that were begging to be filled. (I already know this will be one of my most used papers ever. I'm confessing it ahead of time, lol.) I cut a 6x6" piece and cut out the in between spots of the circles with my FAVORITE Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife.

PSA re: this knife.
At $5, it is a steal. It is the ONLY craft/X-acto knife I have ever felt 100% comfortable using because of how it sits in your hand. You need it. Period.

This took about 15 minutes maybe? And I answered a few texts in between...so probably more like 12 minutes. :)

Next I used my 1.25" circle punch, which fits the circles on the Encircled paper PERFECTLY, and punched the Newsprint paper. This gave me a cool thin black rim to the circles, which makes them stand out, don't you think? After that, I used my 1" circle punch and randomly cut bits of different papers from both Abroad & Take Note. I left a few blank, and stamped on them with the phrase from the Air Mail stamp set. Added a few circles that I punched from the Gold POW glitter paper, a few wood veneer asterisks and my simple title cut with my Cameo.

Like I said, I love this one.
I think I may want to sit it out so I can see it every day...and I've NEVER done that, lol.

Studio Calico Story Hour Sneaks.

man, have things been crazy!!
just wanted to share a few quick sneaks for the March Studio Calico kit, Story Hour :)

here I made my own chevron tag with the border stamp in the Illustrated add-on + Mustard Zing powder. I've been loving yellow/green/red together lately!
This one uses the same border stamp from Illustrated, as well as one of the stamps from Narrative :)
the gold Thickers made it onto nearly every page this month...used in bits, I really liked them!
This one turned out kind of soft/muted...which worked out well :)
have a great weekend...you can see a sneak of my Main kit only layout here.

Project Life...Week 7 is VERY girly. :)

But with good reason.
With Mike out of town for most of that week, Allie & I did lots of girly stuff. Add to that, her Valentine's dance that she had been looking forward to for MONTHS...and well, it is what it is lol.

Looking at it now though, there's some non-girly balance.
soccer cleats.
a snowblower.
hockey game.
:)

The focus of the week was definitely her dance...and the dress. It may have been a size too big, but this mama added some fancy bling-y straps and a cardigan so you couldn't quite tell. (plus, i REFUSED to let her go with bare shoulders...call me old fashioned, but it's what seems appropriate in my book. so do flats and panty hose...which she swore she'd be the only one wearing, but i digress.)

I used (2) 4x4 photos of her in that dress and also a 4x6 journal card to mention a few details.

still loving my 'this week was...' card and snapshot of a text from the week. they just sum everything up perfectly. :)
A word about rub-ons.
I LOVE THEM.
i'm not sure why people fear them, lol.
that being said...the true test of a good rub-on?
longevity.
the Jenni Bowlin rub-on i applied to the photo there ('she') is from 2007, and it went on like a dream.

random thought, i know.
have a great week!

Week 6 Project Life...recovering.

this week was rough lol...not a lot of 'happy happy, joy joy'.
but i guess that's what this project is about right?
not always just writing down the fun/happy times?
i mean, i worried a lot.
was upset a lot.
did lots of comforting & laying around with my girl until she felt better.
(5 straight days of 102 degree fever will make a mama crazy, i assure you.)
(edited: not 105 lol...102!)
and we are kind of getting used to Mike traveling more often for work, but it's rough sometimes.

but here we go :)

Started with grey/yellow/green for the base...and added some red later on. Went back to the WRMK page protectors for the week, and confirmed that I kinda like switching it up. Instead of (2) 4x6 photos/cards at the bottom, i slid in (4) 3x4 cards...I'm a fan of versaitilty, and the 2 styles of page protectors I've used thus far offer that. WINNING. ;)

Lots of labels, plus my first actual bit of 'memorabilia' on this week's layout...a piece of the ribbon Allie got for her 'superior' rating at the solo/ensemble contest on Saturday (go figure, it was the ONE thing she's been bummed that I cut up lol...but she got over it when she saw I used it here). I used a few of the SC Project Life EPIC Stamps...how are these still available?! Love the mixed fonts/sizes/phrases...great for my stash.

**FYI: the photo of her holding her arm after getting her blood drawn STILL chokes me up. it's been a looooong time since I'd seen tears like that from her, and I have NO idea how I held it together at the doctor's office. :(
loving my little frames that I made for my Cameo...and the little row of stars from that EPIC stamp set! Also used a few of the new SC papers from CHA, the sequin Dear Lizzy trim that i LOVE and plenty of Marcy's journaling cards.
A few people have asked if I print my journaling with my computer or a typewriter...it's a typewriter. Complete with typos and all, lol...I picked it up at an auxction for $5 and use it constantly. SO EASY...way easier (for me at least!) than lining up journaling cards in my printer.

Off to do some laundry.
Such a glamorous life I lead, lol.
;)
