Studio Calico March...Into the Woods.

hello again, Studio Calico friends!! just sharing my layouts for the new March gallery, Into the Woods...

these two photos crack me up whenever i look at them, lol...it was midnight L.A. time (thats right, 3AM for moi) and we had just finished our impromptu bowling/birthday celebration at Lucky Strike Lanes at L.A. Live. OF COURSE we should all attempt a 'KP Jumping photo', right? love that these girls took the time to take me completely by surprise so i could start my birthday off with tons of laughs...while surrounded by friends. you guys rock...

the KI die-cut paper from the Sunny Clearing add-on reminded me of clouds...but i just kind of plopped them down and liked how they looked lol. cut some strips from the SC Exclusive papers (as well as initials for everyone in the photo), used the top piece of the My Minds Eye die-cut from the Main Kit and took apart one of the KI 5x10" envelopes from the Babbling Brook addon to write my journaling on. also stamped one of the chipboard stars with the little woodgrain circle (from the Wildflower add-on) + some Powder Blue Zing...and used the Addy Numbers stamps from Sunny Clearing as well with some Leaf Green Zing. Main Kit + Babbling Brook + Wildflower + Powder Blue Zing + SC Exclusive Paper + Leaf Green Zing + Sunny Clearing +Bracket Edger Punch + Double Embossed Edger Punch + JBS Cough Syrup Paint

this next one fooled a few of you for sneaks...sorry!!

how AWESOME is that bubbles/circles background stamp from the Babbling Brook add-on?! pair it with 4 colors of Zing and a few random punches of paper and it kind of stands out on its own...so i kept this one simple. i used the other half of the 5x10" KI envelope i destructed, paired with some NEW Lemonade Mister Huey (ALL of the new SC releases from CHA are now available at 2peas...including this mist!) and my Slice Handwritten cartridge (still 50% off at 2peas!) for the title.

Babbling Brook + JBS Cough Syrup Paint + Mustard Yellow Zing + Powder Blue Zing + Leaf Green Zing + White Zing + Slice Handwritten Cartridge + Lemonade Mister Huey

this last one cracks me up.

it is proof that i am in limbo.
neither a country girl, nor a city slicker.
not quite comfortable in the country, and scared a bit of the BIG city.

i mean, i have the genes to be countrified.
my Dad was from Kentucky...grew up on a farm, etc.
but the execution just isn't there.
as evidenced by these photos Steph took last spring when we visited April & Greg's farm, lol.

so i figure i'll just own it.
i am SO not a country girl.

Main Kit + Notebook Border Punch + Mustard Yellow Zing + Chestnut Zing + Martha Stewart Medallion Punch

hope you enjoyed the gallery this month...have a great week!!

Studio Calico deals + notes.

morning everyone...just wanted to share a few deals & new items with you, since the Shop at Studio Calico will be hopping and filled to the brim today!!

first up: Zing Embossing Powders. i've been begging for these to be carried for QUITE some time, since they are almost impossible to find elsewere, and i have yet to find an ink that looks as awesome when compared to these powders. SO...EASY TO USE + EXCELLENT RESULTS = NO BRAINER, lol.

my faves:

  • Opaque White: simply put, not a better way to get a GREAT white stamped image. no ink out there will have these results...NONE. as seen in my gallery from January, and the 'bubble stamp' image from the Babbling Brook add-on this evening that i showed a sneak of in the previous post. can't say enough/stress enough how much you need this one.

  • Opaque Powder: THE perfect teal. i also have the Aqua, but this one is much more subtle and lovely.

  • Opaque Mustard: the perfect yellow. not at all 'loud', like some yellows can be. i reach for this all. the. time.

  • Opaque Leaf: the perfect green. (notice a trend, lol?) the other green is a bit much for me...grab the Leaf and you'll be crazy happy with it.

  • Opaque Brown Sugar: did someone say KRAFT COLORED POWDER?? amazing. you want.

those would be my Top 5...i've requested Opaque Charcoal & Opaque Apricot to be thrown into my box next month ;)

also...i'm working on a video tutorial for the SC Blog using the Zing powders...and the Zig Emboss Writer. (totally great tool to add to your arsenal for just a few bucks!)

now...a stamp deal. it's no secret...i LOVE the doilies set. like, loveitenoughtouseoneverypage kind of love. check out my 'First Days' mini album (also in image below) to see how great this set works...and you will also see the Zing Mustard, Powder and Leaf in action that i mentioned above. Natalee is great for title work as well...and who can resist a $2 off deal on the sets?? (the shop already shows the discounted prices...what are you waiting for?!)

next...the Epiphany Craft tools.

lots of excitement from the DT while we were in this booth at CHA...i initially wasn't keen, but in the end found myself requesting the Button Tool + Button Epoxies. (don't forget, you need both to use the tool)

and lastly...a friendly reminder:

last chance to order those Distress Inks & Paints you love.

room needs to be made in the warehouse for NEW goods...

AND...if you just can't wait for the NEW Studio Calico items to show up on your doorstep, 2Peas has all of the Countryside + State Fair releases...mists, veneer buttons, stickers, YOU NAME IT!!

happy shopping!

Into the Woods sneaks...Studio Calico March.

hi everyone...i'm sitting here typing with frozen toes because for the first time in who knows how long, we have SUNSHINE in Northeast Ohio! so my silly self flung open the windows and got caught up in finishing my March sneaks with the Studio Calico kit, Into the Woods...

this one fooled lots of peeps in the sneaks slide show...sorry guys! }:)

it is made entirely with the first add-on, Babbling Brook...and features that GORGEOUS 4x6 stamp that has become known on the boards as the 'bubble stamp'. White Zing embossing powder on kraft = heaven. filled in random dots to emboss with additional colors (tutorial coming soon) and stitched down the Cosmo doilies + butterflies. side note: the title was cut with my Slice Elite + Handwritten cartridge...IT IS HALF OFF RIGHT NOW. get it before it's gone!! next up...fun pics + die cut paper that reminds me of clouds = fun.

another view from this page...
this page below cracks me up because of the story...details to follow lol.

rediscovered some love for my Martha Stewart Medallion Punch here... enjoy the weekend...
i'm off to close those windows and thaw my feet out.

love notes + treat yourself :)

wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day...and though it's almost over, i wanted to share a 'love' layout from my 2peas Gallery this month. :) {Copyright 2peasinabucket} supplies: Chinese Knot Punch + Doilies Stamps + Lime Thickers + Kraft Tags + AC Paper MixTape + WRMK Chipboard Embellishments + JBS Stickers + WRMK Valentine Paper + Tiny Attacher + JBS Chewing Gum Ink

i.
love.
this girl.

i love her wide open heart.
i love that she played the game of her life in the goal box last night at soccer.
i love that she still calls me 'mama' when something comes up and she needs me.

i love her laugh.
i love that she talksinrunonsentenceslikesomeoneelseiknow.
i love that she places a friend's needs above her own.

you get what i'm saying, right?
this page literally fell together...sometimes that happens and i think it has everything to do with the subject matter.
it's easy to jot down how i feel about her.
enough said. ;)

just thought i'd share that today.
and i'll also share this post from Jamie over at 2peas...just in case you wanted to treat yourself to some goodies on this lovey dovey day.

American Crafts...new goods.

i know.

it's that time of year, lots of new product coming out to play with.

but i have to say, that i spent more time at the American Crafts booth at CHA two weeks ago than any other...they hit it OUT OF THE PARK this time around!! usually i fall in love with their Thickers, their embellishments...the paper sometimes doesn't quite do it for me.

not this time.

let's have a look, shall we?

first up, the Campy Trails line these note cards are a hoot. lots of fun phrases to use (and plenty to split with a friend!), that don't necessarily have to equate to camping. I HATE CAMPING. but i love this line.
now this woodgrain stamp is calling me...'Nicooooooole, you need me + and my buddy the cool retro hexagon border. we come togeeeeeether...'

now, if you weren't convinced before...let's stop to pause for a second here.

and they're glossy.
and i want them all!
(the vanilla color does NOT come in woodgrain though...just FYI)
and while i learned recently that some would consider an all capital alphabet to mimic someone YELLING (HA lol), i love this one.

let's look at some papers.
cool circles + woodgrain in between = :)

mod spiro-graphy circles?? yep.

different circles...with MORE woodgrain!!

loooooooove this one...reminds me of a quilt/pennants?

perfect starry paper.

this line has an awesome woodgrain paper in EVERY COLOR to match the line. double-sided woodgrain + the PERFECT vanilla woodgrain! see?? GENIUS!

ok.
now on to the Peachy Keen line.
yellow + grey = i'm in heaven.
surprised? like this alpha too.
i am obsessed with these tags. look at the fun prints on them!

my new-found love of these metal faux 'pinbacks' is getting out of control, but i totally ordered these. :) LOOK AT THE CAMERA PIN!!
love the camera here as well...let alone the little pearls on the typewriter! the small pops of magenta really add nice pop of color...look at that fun banner sticker in this book.

and now...
HECK YES.
x2 PLEASE.
gorgeous yellow floral +grey + perfect scaled print?
absolutely.

GREY TYPEWRITER KEYS??
yesssssssssssssssss. not part of the Peachy Keen line, these buttons from the Confetti line will nicely work with 98356298 projects.

the Hello Sunshine line has lots of fun, 'doodly' type papers, but i really love the kraft prints.

modified herringbone on kraft thankyouverymuch.

this raindrop paper is even sweeter in person.
told you i was obsessed with their tags!!

like i mentioned, AC really caught my eye this time around...can't wait for my order to land on my doorstep!
happy Thursday...
and i apologize for the enabling.

Texture, anyone?

Creating Keepsakes magazine just released their special Tips & Tricks issue focusing on Texture...so many great ideas in this one! i, for one, would have NEVER grabbed some yarn to use on a page, until... ***as seen in the Tips & Tricks Texture Issue/Spring 2011 of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Copyright Creative Crafts Group. Posted with prior permission from the publisher.

and it turned out so cute. :)

i wrapped bits of yarn around a few Sassafras stickers i had in my stash, and it was just the finishing touch i needed. to add to the 'homey' feel, i used my large scalloped border punch on some wood veneer ...this layout just screams so much about who Allie is right now.

a multi-colored nail polish
trendy accessorizing
blue + green loving 'tween.

perfection.

home.

i may have picked up a cold while there (totally worth it since i got it from Dav...and our together time is well worth a few days of nose-blowing because i love her), but these flowers that Mike & Allie had waiting for me when i arrived home from California last night perked me right up. kind of a belated birthday/welcome home gift, and they make me smile.

even though i can't appreciate their smell right now, lol.

i didn't drag my camera to the show...i always do, and then never take any pics. so the only photos i have for now are from my phone and they are funky lol. note to self: shoot an email to the SC Crew begging for pics.

so in the meantime, i thought i'd share a fun layout from my 2peas gallery...

supplies: Basic Grey Curio Papers & Stickers + Hambly Gold Overlay + 7Gypsies Numbers Rub-Ons + Making Memories Shimmer Alpha + Studio Calico Classic White Mister Huey + American Crafts Phrases Thickers + American Crafts Stroll Alphabet Thickers + KI Memories Office Pockets

i love using old photos...no secret there.

but this one of my mama at a New Year's Eve party made me want to grab my supplies and start playing. the bits just kind of all came together and i love how it turned out.

off to get cracking on a project.
take care!!
:)
