love this pic of Mike and Allie from Father's Day. we had been walking around on the beach at Cedar Point and i was playing around with my camera...we had stopped and i was reviewing some of the shots i had taken when i looked back up and caught Allie smooching Mike on the cheek. i love that she is still so affectionate...when the day comes that she won't give me a hug in public i think i might just fall apart, lol. and yes, i was crazy enough to hand sew every stinkin one of those buttons to the cardstock.
when Allie saw this one she said 'Mama, look how young we both were!!'. i had to laugh, because even though she is completely correct, i wasn't expecting that to come out of HER mouth, lol. she was just 1, and i was only 27...wow. a few people have asked about that 'green' flower button on the journaling card...it was actually just a white flower flat backed button/thing that i added a touch of paint to. i think i need some more of those...
again, another fave pic from the past...look at Allie!! would you believe she STILL makes this gesture with her hands when she's excited about something, lol? the middle frame was made using one of the SC note cards that will be thrown into your kit when you get it in the mail. how awesome are those darn things?! i think i use them every month and love that they're always different!
REALLY simple one here...i haven't traveled much at all so far but that didn't stop me from using this Making Memories Passport paper, lol. i had taken these from our Disney trip...and while there, you really do feel like you're traveling abroad!
this month each of the DT members were assigned a kit from the past year...we were to look through the gallery for that kit and choose a member layout to scraplift. fun idea...and man, do our members rock those kits! i was immediately drawn to a layout of Waleska's, and this was my take on it. on Tuesday i'll post everyone's lifts and the layouts that inspired them on the Studio Calico blog, so check over there when you can.
now this pic of my Dad and Brett has to be one of my most faves ever. Brett wasn't quite 1 year old, so we're talking circa 1976...but when i look at it, it just makes me happy that we were lucky enough to have him with us for 21 years. i still miss him, but scrapping is definitely a way to vent some of my emotions about losing him at such a young age.
this one was just fun. i kind of listed a few places that i am intent on seeing before i'm too old to walk around, lol. and honestly, i have to remember to hand Allie the camera more often...she does a great job taking pics!
ah...this beauty. i ran this puppy right through that old typewriter i bought at the flea market and typed my little heart out. pics are of Mike and i...WAY back when we were just little kiddos. kept the page simple to focus on the story.
so there it is. Studio Calico July. if you don't have one headed your way yet, there's still time. and don't let the 'travel' theme paper fool you...how many travel pages to see in the ones above? one...maybe two?? just think outside the box...
before you know it, you'll be on your way.
